Hi All,

I have a question, I am living at student accommodation and we can only have 5 devices (5 MAC addresses) allowed to connect, the company they use is Exosphere.

So I guess I was wondering if you think it would work if I purchased something like a google router to allow me to connect more than the 5 limit to that and that acts as 1 device on the network?

TLDR: I want to know if having a router is classed as 1 device on the network or as multiple?

THANKS!

A single router should appear at 1 device on the network. That being said, please check with campus IT staff to see if students are even allowed their own networking gear. Some schools prohibit running your own networking gear, up to the point of expulsion.

They are ok with it because I tried to use my modem-router but I think the modem part was causing issues and they said it probably was.

Thanks heaps

Might be better off with an unlimited data plan and a phone that can hotspot.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Due to the above, I've likely revised posts <30 min old, and do not think as you do.
