So WindMobile talks about their unlimited data plans and stuff like that but they i did a few minutes of research and found out its not exactly unlimited. So you can download as much as you want and upload too but if you reach the 5 or 10GB limit they have set they will slow your connection to 256kbps down and 128kbps up. That is literally the stupidest f****** thing I have ever seen. If your going to call it "unlimited" it better be unlimited. I would rather have seen them call it uncapped data or something because this is not unlimited. They also call is "fair usage" and to me that is just "well we have a multimillion dollar network setup and we don't really want you to use it but we want your money". They even say in "extreme cases" they will slow your data connection to 32kbps down and 16kbps up... THAT IS LITERALLY UNUSABLE!

I don't have WindMobile as my provider but I was thinking about switching to them when I heard they had unlimited data... not anymore.

I just saw an ad and they were talking about no extra fees for data when travelling in the USA, so I now can imagine that the speed will be horrendous and no one will actually use their data.

Look at this coverage map of Canada... look how terrible their actual network is it only covers maybe 1% of Canada...

there coverage own service is not much then, for me I would be on their "partners" networks which probably the carrier I have now.

  • 1 month later...

I use Wind Mobile and tend to stay just within the GTA and occasionally go to the states. The US roaming plan is actually flawless and I got faster speeds than I got on the Wind Mobile network at times (Wind is usually 11+Mb per second but, on the new HSPA+ towers I was getting 19Mb+). I can't say I've ever gone my 10GB throttle. (Yes I upgraded to the increased data caps). It's honestly not bad if you live in a major city or the "Greater Area" of a big city. Considering I'm paying 50~ a month for Unlimited everything (and the 10GB of Data at 11Mb+ a second) it's not a bad deal.
