In my pc I currently havea stick of 8gb 3200Mhz CL16 ram from HyperX, specifically HyperX Fury the older model. I want to add another stick for work purpouses(I need a lot of apps open at once), but I found out that they dont sell this type of ram anymore in my country. The closest thing that I can buy even from resellers is the new HyperX Beast, I found a model that has the same specifications as the one in my pc, but I am unsure if I should buy it or not because I don't know if they are compatible.

You can always advice against mixing RAM, especially for high-end OC kits, but I have never, ever had problems with mixing RAM, with different speeds and timings. If you enable XMP or DOCP, the slowest profile will be used (from the slowest RAM).

I'd say you could without worry buy another stick but it's just that there is the risk of the two sticks not working with each other.

That is why RAM kits are sold with 2 sticks or 4 sticks - these RAM kits (sticks) are tested to work with each other.

The thing is... A kit of 2x8 or 4x8 etc have been tested to work together while DIMMs from different kits or singles haven't. Now they may work perfectly fine even at XMP but if they don't and they may not you don't get to warranty them due to it. They should operate fine at JDEC speed but I can't give you any promises as it may also come down to the memory controller on the CPU.

Kingston sold their HyperX division to HP (I think it was HP) and what used to be HyperX is now Fury. I replaced my 2x8 HyperX kit with a 2x16 Fury Beast kit. Speed is the same.. timings seem to be the same from what I can remember but I think these use Samsung dies (lower grade ones) and my old kit I think was using either SK Hynix or Micron (also lower grade ones).

Will they work together? Probably. Will they work together at XMP without tweaking? It depends -

(I have to manually set some timings for my kits to go at XMP without problems but that's because my mobo dont set them all).

If you ever plan on overclocking then no mix and match is a terrible idea but if you dont then you are prob fine, just very slightly diminished performance since both will run the slower kits speed/timings

Though you can prob sell your rams and save the hassle of potentially not working mix match ram

The motherboard could care less about what brand or model the memory is.. All that matters is your timings match the slower memory.

The main thing to keep in mind is the rank, is it single rank or dual rank, make sure you match that. Second to that is if you can, check the memory controllers and match those if possible, if you can't, not the end of the world. Then lastly, make sure the second stick can match or exceed all the timings at the rated speed of your current stick.

If you can match all 3 and you likely won't have any issues, key works is "likely".

Not sure rank is an issue these days... It was a horrible problem with older chipsets like the MVP3.. These days I think it's a non-issue, or should be if you have a decent motherboard... Been a long time since I had problems with motherboards and memory, so I assumed rank was a non-issue.. If your motherboard cares about rank you have deeper problems than memory since memory has been taken away from the motherboard and is now mostly controlled by the CPU memory controller.. Neither AMD or Intel have any obvious rank issues..

Rank even on the best motherboards still dictates the maximum frequency you can use on memory on a given motherboard. While in pairs and Isloation it will typically never cause issues. Having a dual channel set with mismatching ranks can cause "Rank Interleaving to be disabled". Not terrible, but the worst thing I can think of before outright not working.
