Good afternoon!

I am putting together a gaming pc/NAS, and I would like some hardware recommendations. With the build below, what parts should be upgraded, and what models do you recommend me go with?

With the CPU, what specifications should I be looking for? With gaming, I'm pretty sure cores, boosted frequency, and cooler are the most important. How about with a NAS? Any specific models y'all would recommend for sub $500?

I know I need to get storage, that's part of the whole project. I saw that Seagate has some 2TB hard drives for around $47, which is pretty amazing.

How about RAM, would 16gb at 3200 be good enough?

Thank you all very much for your help in advance, I'm very new to this market.

Have a wonderful day,

V/R

Morinehtar

Of these, what do you already own?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

You really don't need much cpu at all for a gigabit nas, Any modern cpu will be plenty, or if its a multi use system, you can keep that cpu

For just the nas part you need very little ram, less than 100mB. The rest is cache and other apps.

Those are probably smr drives, so I'd probably stay away if you can.

Do you have any drive types you would specifically recommend?

How much total storage do you need? Do you plan on using raid? If this is a single drive, the smr one is probably fine, but if your using raid get a non smr drive

Everything. I will be taking this, existing PC and upgrading it.

The motherboard can support some pretty decently powerful options, a used Ryzen 5 3600 can be had for a pretty low price on eBay. Pairs well with any inexpensive DDR4 3000 or 3200.

I'm planning on doing a long term setup, so 4 2tb drives.
