I need help. My laptop glitches when I'm on 144 Hz

(Please excuse my English) I use an ROG Strix G15 and I got this around 2020 September. I never had any problems throughout those years until like last month where I had my screen turned on overnight because I was downloading a game then I woke up and the 2 inches at the top of my screen had lines and the rest of the screen is very slow (The screen refreshing at random intervals). I then restarted my laptop then it turned out fine and I carried on and didn't think about it.

 

And then that problem came back like 4 days ago and the 1st inch of the screen is completely fine and then like 3 inches down is like very glitchy and had lines and then the rest is just pitch black or has very slow/random frames per second. I tried restarting it a few times and it came back normal after shutting it down and turned it back on after 30 mins. I then started to spend lesser time on my laptop because I thought it would fix it but the problem not going away anymore. The only way to use my laptop now is switching to 60 Hz. I checked all my display drivers as well as my Nvidia game drivers and none we're outdated but it didn't help. I know 60 Hz isn't so bad but I'm used to 144 Hz now and of course it's better than 60 Hz. Does anybody how to fix this?

Does Turning G-Sync on or off do anything?

How do I do that? I searched it up and it says press the plus on the Display tab in the Nvidia Control Panel but I can't find the Display tab.

For Windows 11, right click desktop and choose Show more options. (if it is Windows 10, just rick click and choose NVIDIA Control Panel).

 

Later click NVIDIA Control Panel and then find for Set up G-SYNC under Display tab.

 

Your is Laptop and it may not support G-SYNC if you cannot find Display tab.

Yep there's no Display tab. Only thing I see is the 3D settings tab.

Normally only have 3D settings tab for laptop. Nothing to do with G-SYNC in this case. 

 

Suggest you bring over to the shop you buy or service center. 

 

Suspect it is hardware issue.

 

In future it is better set screen auto off after sometimes, screen off only won't impact to download.
