Features and branding.

I'm moving the thread to the CPU, Motherboards, and Memory section.

Said features are mostly important for Overclocking. If you aren't going to do that just get a board with enough slots and I/O for you from a good brand (with the correct socket for your CPU of course). Personally prefer gigabyte boards.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

With Z87 boards you're better off just choosing the one that looks the best with your rig as a cheap motherboard will perform closely with an expensive board.

Features and quality, some motherboards have higher quality components compared to others, some motherboards also have more features.  For example, some motherboards from Asus have USB Bios flashback and some dont.  To be completley honest, dont spend your whole budget on a motherboards but also dont go cheap either.

Getting a cheap motherboard can have series disadvantages from tons of problems to flat out death of components.  While having a really expensive one can leave you with lower end cpu and gpu and power supply.

If you dont care about tons of features and just want a solid board that can overclock, I would go for the Asus Z87m-plus.   The MSI gaming if you want the gaming specific features, and the Asus Gryphon z87 if your willing to pay for stability.

its not low end at all!  I just prefer Asus boards because of the features and I like their UEFI interface :)
