You have to torrent it, since it's a free game it's not against CoC to say this but go to thepiratebay and search Black Mesa and get it that way. The highest seeded torrent was posted by the Black Mesa team themselves.

 

You know, it's kind of sad that you have to stress the fact that some torrents are perfectly legal...

 

There are a surprising number of them, actually.

"A picture is starting to form here... I wonder if it's accurate? Some pieces don't quite seem to fit. Or maybe I just don't like the way it looks."

I don't feel comfortable installing Utorrent...  So never mind, but thanks for your help!  And I totally understand torrents are legal!

Did you download all 3 files and the Source SDK from Steam? I downloaded Black Mesa about a week ago and it worked fine.

Just installing torrent client doesn't mean anything. Without downloads they are just another download manager software. Its what you download with them that matters. You can adjust even speed that each file or every file uses to upload and download. Torrents are pretty much best way to download mods and free games (which are mods) since installers are 1-5gb big files.

 

Just to give example. BF2 mods Forgotten Hope 2 (8.17Gb) and Project Reality (6.03Gb) have been available in torrent format sice beginning. When internet speeds weren't so fast.

 

But your choise. I'm sure they have working mirror somewhere.

Personally would wait for full release first from what I have seen of it. Bit-torrent is probably your best bet. People use them for Distro's ect and bit-torrent is clean.
