Nextcloud with a domain on truenas scale

Go to solution Solved by SupaKomputa,

1. get your internet ip address, in google type whatsmyip

2. on your router to port forward the port you want to use to your NAS depending on the type of service
DLNA (port 2869), FTP (21 or 22), http (80 or 8080) etc.
The concept :

this is a tutorial for nextcloud. it uses the service called dynamic dns.

3. to connect you can use your ip address followed with the port number , example : 111.222.333.444:21 (for ftp).

I installed nextcloud on my truenas scale server (not truecharts nextcloud) and i want it to be publicly available so i can share the link with my family. How can i do so? i have Traefik installed.

you dont need a domain to be publicly listed. all you need is the ip address.

It is better to set up with a domian and SSL. try using Nginx Proxy Manager on docker to manager your Domain and SSL easily. You can use Cloudflare for additional security. If you are using cloudflare proxy to hide your IP, implement a local DNS server that forwards your local DNS queries to the Proxy server. It will reduce latency and maintain local network speed.
