That's a lot of money for motherboard and CPU.
If you want to go for gaming, you could get a 12600, a B series motherboard and a better graphics card for 1440p gaming or keep the current graphics card and save some money.

And you can save some money by getting 3-packs of fans.

I mean sure, you can overclock the hell out of this CPU, but why?
It will not bottleneck a current graphics card for gaming anyway, so you throw out a lot of money for CPU performance, which you probably never really need.

My build:

CPU

Intel Core i7 9700 8x 3.00GHz So.1151

CPU cooler

be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim

Motherboard

MSI B360-A PRO Intel B360 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX

GPU

8GB Gigabyte GeForce RTX2070 WindForce 2X 3xDP/HDMI

SSD

500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280

You can save some money on the CPU and motherboard, and step up the graphics card. I also recommend a less expensive SSD for a gaming focused PC

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

This seems like it'll be a nice build! A few things:

  • The fans seem really expensive---is that something you need? I see that the case you have doesn't have fans, but couldn't you instead buy something nicer like the p400a in white or something like that? I've used DeepCool Matrexx cases before in builds, and let's just say I'm not a fan.
  • I agree with the comments about the board---you should go for something lower-end, especially with your choice of ddr4 because you'll probably be inclined to upgrade that whole situation later on.
    • You'll probably also be able to go for a non-k SKU and experience essentially the same performance
    • If I were you, I'd look at your workload to determine whether you actually need a 12700 at all. You could probably save some more money now by going for a lower-end SKU and then buy a used, higher-end SKU a few years down the line for much less
  • The cooler also seems rather expensive for what it is, and does it not come with thermal paste? You can generally find Arctic mx-4 in larger quantities for really cheap if you really need to buy more thermal paste.

  • I chose these fans because i wanted some nice white rgb fans to match my white/rgb theme for this build, same goes for the Matrexx as i just think its going to look very clean on my desk. This is also the reason i chose this cooler.
  • I added the termal paste because i honestly have no idea if it comes with the cooler or not so i figured i would rather be safe then sorry and just get some for those few euro's
  • On the cpu, im currently looking into maby getting a 12600 based on other comments

Unless you're buying a used CPU cooler, you can expect a CPU cooler to come with thermal paste.

Thanks, might take a look into some of these things. Already downgraded the motherboard to a Asus TUF GAMING B660-PLUS WIFI D4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard as this also supports wifi. For the gpu im not sure yet, i think still going with a Geforce motherboard based on earlier experiences with it

You might be able to find a 3060 ti for a reasonable price at a local shop, the PCPartPicker listings had their prices super high.

You might also consider a used RX 2080

Would you recommend me to take a gpu with 8gb or 12gb based on the fact that im mainly using it for gaming?

If you're not gaming at 4K, 8GB is going to be sufficient for your experience. But don't buy a GPU based on the ram, buy based on performance.

The 3060 ti is faster than a 3060 in gaming, even with less ram.
