If it's booted and working, not really. The main advantage of getting new memory is that you'd likely get a faster kit at the same time, which depending on the system and use case might make a big difference, it might. At those speeds though, them being the same really doesn't matter if the system boots.

I actually experienced blue screen restarts about a week after installing the other stick that is why I'm researching. I had 3 restarts in my 8 hour use. I updated it multiple times and I think that resolved it but still tried to learn more just to make sure if it was just because of outdated drivers or the actual ram.

Download and run Memtest86 for a couple hours to check if it's RAM. If there's an error with the RAM it should find it. It can't necessarily rule it out, but it can confirm if it's the problem.

What are the rest of the specs of the system? If it's X99/1st gen Ryzen, then this does make sense, both of those memory controllers suck, especially with mixing memory. For almost everything else, the odds of this causing any issues are slim to none and it's probably a bad Windows install over anything else.

I'm using Ryzen 2100ge for my work pc. With Gtx 750 Ti. I just remembered having Windows Defender being updated a day before this restarts started. Would there be a benefit if I matched the same sticks? or would it be noticeable difference at least for the cost?

2100GE is a 1st gen Ryzen chip, so it might cause issues. Still, I'd run memtest86 for a couple hours to see if there are any errors. If the error started happening after the Windows update, I would suspect that Windows update decided to be Windows update and bricked your Windows install, so while it could be memory and it's worth checking before you go through the effort of reinstalling Windows, I wouldn't expect it to be the sole error.

I see, thanks for all the info. I'll probably try to test is using memtest86 tomorrow since it's late and I need to sleep. Thanks again!

That's not a bad plan, but Memtest86 is best run overnight, so if you can spare an extra 20 minutes to set it up before bed, it will save you 4-5 hours tomorrow.
