My first build

Go to solution Solved by xxx.sps,

Ok so don't buy the AIO get an air cooler, the i5 really doesn't need it.

The 3060 ti is really overpriced for that price you can get a 3070 ti.

Don't pay for windows you can make an install media for free and save money.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/9pfFf7/noctua-nh-u9s-chromaxblack-464-cfm-cpu-cooler-nh-u9s-chromaxblack

Budget (including currency): $2500-$3500CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, Warzone, will be used for school programs as well (at uni)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Don’t know what monitors to get for a dual monitor setup (one portrait and one landscape) at 1080p

Was hoping for a red and black aesthetic, need mouse, keyboard and headset.

Here is what I was thinking so far

  • Cheaper cooler, for a 12400F you don't need anything more than this.
  • B660 is enough for a 12400F. You can't overclock it so Z690 is useless.
  • Slightly cheaper RAM that will perform the same.
  • Much cheaper storage that's not much worse, you won't even notice it unless you copy big files a lot. 2x1 tb is cheaper than 1x2tb which is why I chose 2 drives.
  • 6900 XT is MUCH better than a 3060 Ti. It performs similar to a 3080 Ti-3090. I would still wait for a 6950 XT that should release tomorrow as that should be a lot faster, and maybe it will cause the 6900 XT to drop in price, and if not you might be lucky enough to get one for a decent price.
  • This case actually has airflow, which that H710 does not.
  • PSU is slightly better. If you want to save $10 the one you already had is great too.
  • No Windows. You can buy cheap keys online.
  • If you want you can upgrade to a 12600K or 12700K and Z690

I'm looking for peripherals later when I'm on my pc (on phone now). As for the monitor look for something like an AOC 24G2, that's one of the best 1080p monitors and it's black with red accents.

Basically a full upgrade and more budget for the gpu

You can get w10 pro keys off cheapkeys sites like scdkeys, kinguin, etc. For ~20$, w10 keys are compatible with w11

Prioritize performance first and aesthetics last, get the best parts that affect performance (excl ram unless you prefer to overclock ram) then get good looking parts

A 6900XT for 1080p is a waste of money. He doesn't really need any more than a 6600XT for the games mentioned.

That's right, didn't think about the fact that they run 1080p. The 3060 Ti is still overpriced, so I agree that the 6600 XT would be better. But you can get a 3060 for $50 more, and it has 12gb VRAM (6600 XT has 8) and it's better at ray tracing while performing similar in games (without RT). Both the 6600 XT and 3060 would be a great choice, it's up to OP if they care about the Nvidia stuff or not.

@TheycallmenbI looked for some peripherals, what do you think?

Monitor: AOC 24G2 23.8" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor  ($269.99 @ Canada Computers)
Monitor: AOC 24G2 23.8" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor  ($269.99 @ Canada Computers)
Keyboard: HP HyperX Alloy Origins RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($119.99 @ Canada Computers)
Mouse: Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Optical Mouse  ($193.17 @ iSanek)
Headphones: HP HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel  Headset  ($126.45 @ Amazon Canada)
Total: $984.59

After changing the GPU in my first list and adding peripherals it should look something like this:

Yeah you can just make an installation media off of microsoft's website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11/ but bare in mind you will have the watermark at the bottom right corner of your screen. If you really wanted to activate it to get rid of the watermark you can just buy an activation key off of SCD Keys where you can use the code: BFTYC to get 35% off
