Alright so I upgraded my laptop's ram like 4-6 months ago and added some transcend ddr4 3200mhz 8gb ram(sodimm). This doubled my ram capacity to 16gb. The original ram stick was Samsung DDR4 3200 SO-D 8GB 260P. Fast forward to two weeks ago and the laptops screen suddenly stops working. It can connect to a monitor and it still works, but the reason I bought a laptop is for portability so it defeated the purpose. I gave it in to Asus to repair and then they claimed that there were modifications not from Asus. However, when I asked the place where I bought it from how to upgrade the ram, they said they couldn't do it and you could buy ram online. They were also coincidentally Asus' service partners. I followed the official upgrade guide which you download from Asus' website and upgraded the ram. Nowhere in it did it say that it would void the warranty. It only said to use compatible ram. Once I gave it in for repair, I got the email that the ram upgrade voided the warranty and they would have to replace the motherboard for more than how much I bought the laptop for. I told them to return it to me. When I got it, it wouldn't switch on and now it doesn't work at all. The battery was also disconnected when I got it back. I bought it from sharafdg in Dubai.

What do I do?

Damn... I'd be pissed. I have a laptop and It has new RAM 2 new SSD's and I repasted It and It was still covered by warranty when I needed to fix the 3.5mm jack. As far as I know as long as you don't break anything in the laptop when you open It It should still be covered by warranty, but It might be different for your country.

Quick question. What laptop do you have. More specifically, what company?

We don't get that here. Would've bought literally any other company as my last Asus laptop was also trash but unfortunately other gaming laptop companies are overpriced here. Plus you can't get them repaired. After that Asus was the only brand and people have given them good reviews. I'm still pissed as they broke the laptop when I gave it to them. Still waiting for them to reply. They're claiming the ram broke the screen.

Yeah like that could happen, straight up scammers... Can't you just get one from amazon they have good deals. I mean I live in a very small country and can still get stuff from the german and french amazon

It's been less than a year since I got it plus I need a new phone. Amazon does have an occasional decent deal but the laptop won't come close to this if it's on sale

Damn, what if ram is the problem have you tried removing one stick and leaving one in to see if it at least boots the display almost certainly still won't work.

Doesn't even make a sound like when you press the power button? If it doesn't It could just be an unplugged battery or maybe an unplugged charging port. Why don't you just take it to a third party repair shop and see if they can do something?

Something happens. I can hear stuff happening inside. After a few minutes the fans go to full power. That's all that happens. Nothing else works. Before I gave it to Asus I could connect to a monitor and connect a keyboard and mouse but now none of that works

Look for disconected cables If you can't find any take it to any third party repair shop I'm sure they'll help you.
