Hello,

I was hoping someone on here had a better understanding of memtest86 than me.

I completed the main test without any errors over the 4 passes (total of ~2 1/2 hours), but when I went do the RAM benchmark test that takes 5 seconds the computer froze at the end. I recreated this by letting the ram warm up via another 15min of the main test, cutting it short, then re-doing the benchmark, and the computer actually restarted on me.

I have other info, but this is the crux of the issue - let me know what else I need to provide 🙂

Would help knowing what the exact RAM benchmark you're using is. Some RAM benchmarks grill the hell out of the CPU and memory controller, causing it to overheat and crash.

MemTest86 is a good starting point for RAM stability testing, but its far from the be-all, end-all. What I personally did for my system when I was trying to stabilize my memory OC (3800MHz CL16-13-13-21, if you were wondering) was get it Y cruncher stable for a good starting point, then dialing it back to get it stable in other stability tests. I went for 700% complete in HCI Memtest, then went for 50 loops of Linpack 14GB with FurMark running in the background for a thermal torture test for the RAM (would've done 30GB but ran into issues with Windows running out of memory and BSOD by doing that, even at stock).

It tests the memory speed per "step size." Here's another LTT thread I found talking about it

I'm going to continue reading it as I just found it trying to answer you
