Previous overclock settings failed.

Go to solution Solved by BiotechBen,

BIOS update would be a place to go, it's possible that the XMP just isn't taking. My experience with XMP has been it being super flakey and temperamental.

I have recently come across an issue where whenever I restart my PC, the error message "Previous overclock settings failed, system boot with default setting and placed previous settings in BIOS menu" pops up.

In BIOS, it says that my DDR speed is 2666 MHz even when my XMP is enabled.

My RAM, motherboard, and CPU are all compatible with each other which makes this error even more worrisome (PC Parts).
Maybe I should update my BIOS and see if that fixes the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

First things first, what memory slots are installed? That error message basically means memory training is failing at XMP settings. If they're installed in the wrong slots (1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4) memory overclocking (which XMP is) will absolutely suck.

My memory is installed in slots 2 and 4 which is what it said to do in the MOBO manual.
Also my XMP had been working since I built my PC around 3 months ago but this error on started happening around 1-2 weeks ago

Just updates BIOS and the problem is solved!
