I just bought a 3200mHz 16gb kit of Trident Z off gumtree (similar to Facebook marketplace) when I got home I tested it in my brother's system and only one of the sticks were working. I looked at the stick that wasn't working and it was missing a capacitor or resistor (im not certain what it is) is there anyway I could fix it by getting a replacement one and soldering it on or is this stick just dead? I've messaged the seller however they haven't replied yet.

You should be able to solder another in it's place, the replacement piece needed taken from a dead stick of RAM and it should work if all else is OK.
I don't see any damage to the PCB, the pad or anything else aside form the component not being there. Only thing to beware of is the keep the two circuit sides separated, that's a tiny spot and it's all too easy when you heat the solder for the solder to simply flow and lump together.

The signal timing for it would probably be thrown off resulting in it not working at all or be super flakey.

This is possible but at the same time if the stick is dead otherwise, you really don't have anything to lose by trying... And you may even fix it.

I just tested the ram in another system (the system that I plan to use it in once I get more parts) and it seemed to be working. I applied the xmp profile and it was running at the rated speed. the only issue is in windows it said half the ram was hardware reserved however the full 16GBs where picked up in the bios.
