Just a side note for you, that site is extremely biased.  In the future please never use that site for an actual compassion.

Biased? They're giving a 6300 a score of 8.2 for price/performance basing it complety off the multithreaded performance/price when the vast majority uses a desktop mainly for gaming and games barely taking advantage of more than 2 cores then their price/performance score barely makes sense. Would that be a reason to call them biased? No. That website should never be used or passmark crap. Probably the most meaningful cpu benchmark would be Cinebench's single thread benchmark that does atleast give you somewhat an idea of performance differences between x & y in a cpu bound game (which would be 99,99999% of the time lightthreaded)

To sum up, their 8xxx cpu's aren't that relevant anymore for gamers, barely performing better than their 6300's in games and till now we only have one game that can push a 8core chip to 100% (Crysis). You start with making a choice between the i3 & 6300, if you want better the only exit would be a i5, there's not much sense in their octacores anymore unless theyre very closely priced to a 6300.

If the i3 was less than $100, I would recommend it much more.  Because it is in the same price range as the FX6300 and FX8320(The 8320 is currently $130 on Amazon) I am more comfortable recommending the FX series because of its multi-tasking capabilities.

Cheapest board you can get for a i3 would be a 40$ H81m board where as with 8320's you'd be needing atleast a 80-100$ board for it. For 220$ you can get a locked i5 & a 40$ h81m. If you'd be going with a 6300 you're going to need lets say a 60-80$ board which would bring you to 180$, for a tiny bit more the i5 & H81m seems to be a better choice.

Its a shame that the i3 doesn't get more attention, because it is an extremely capable CPU, but its price is really holding it back.

I still believe that the i5-4670k is the absolute best all-around CPU which can be purchased for around $180-$220.

The i3-4130 is $99 @ MiroCenter.  :)

My FX8350 runs every game very smoothly, and it eats everything i trow at it. specialy virtualization.

The only game, that is getting abit holded back by my FX is ARMA 3 but this is because ARMA has a ready bad codded engine, to use multiple cores. same with dayZ and lol. But still those games, are very well playable on my AMD FX. Since intel cpu´s have better single core performance, these games run a littlebit better on the intel. But in those games it does not matter if you on a i3 or i5, basicly cause, the i5 will get botlenecked as well, just as the FX8350.

All other modern games, like BF4 bioshock infinete, crysis, skyrim, Trine2, tombraider batman, etc etc they run just great on my FX.

Between the i5 and the FX8350 there is not much of a diffrence in these types of newer games. Its mostly because the GPU is still the most important thing. only skyrim 1080p, the i5 pulls ahead, at 1440P  they are equal.

I not gonne state which cpu is better, because its a personal thing. depending on the games you play, and what else you do with the system.

if i had to choose between the i3 or the FX8320, and i did not play older titles, or games like ARMA dayZ and lol, then my choice would be abvious for the FX8320
