AIO installation position

Go to solution Solved by GuiltySpark_,

Assuming you have an AIO with the pump in the CPU block. It should be noted that this is really going to be dependent on what your case allows.

in the top is best..  in the front with tubes down.. is best too.. depending on if you want fresh air cooling the system. depends on how hot it's getting. 😄

sorry just saw it was a 120... in the back above the port tray is usual a good spot with fan blowing air out.  with tubes at the bottom.

If you haven't bought the 120mm AIO yet?   Don't.

Air Coolers outperform 120mm AIOs easily.

If you have it?  Mount the rad on the top exhaust spot (if you have it)  Or Rear Exhaust.

The key thing to watch:  You want the CPU Block to be at/near the lowest point in the loop, with the Radiator being the highest point in the loop to prevent noise and wear and tear on parts.

Any suggestions for a good AIO brand and radiator size for AMD Ryzen 5950X?

A 280 or 360 from EK, Arctic or Lian Li. 280 as an absolute minimum.

you 110% Can't use a 120mm Rad on a 5950X.  Those things generate way too much heat.

(You might get away with a 240, but your temps will be notably higher than on a 280+ Rad.)
