Hello Friends!

I am trying to help out a family member. I have one goal:
3 monitors 2 computers.

The setup is as follows:

  • Windows Work laptop (HP EliteBook)
  • MacOS Desktop (2018 Mac Mini)
  • 3 monitors
  • 1 keyboard
  • 1 mouse
  • 1 web cam

After doing some research I found the following video.

That video is very close to what I am looking for but that dock only supports 2 monitors my goal is to have a setup that supports 3. That led me to their triple monitor dock which is USB-C and would require a switcher to move the input from PC to Mac at the end of the workday for example.

The only problem is that the option of a USB-C switch seems to not exist in the way I would think. For example, take, this from amazon which in the deception explicitly says, “Very Important, it is not compatible with MacBook Pro or Mac Series Device” is this a lack of driver support or people mistaking it for a thunderbolt switcher for apple monitors?

Here is a diagram of my goal:

So, I’ve got a couple of questions:

  • Does this solution (usb-c switcher to usb-c dock) make sense?
  • Does this seem like it would have any compatibility issues?
  • Does this seem possible with USB-C? I am just confirming because the specification has gotten a little lax and I want to make sure that this is a reliable setup for someone who isn’t as tech savvy as myself.
