Just started uni and have been saving up for a desktop as my laptops had it and can't do all my 3d modelling and rendering on Lumion, 3DS Max, Revit etc.  Wanted to get some feedback on the parts I picked, my budget was originally around $1600 but I don't mind spending an extra $250 if it's worth it.  Also if it helps, I was hoping I would be able to play new and upcoming games such as watchdogs, titanfall and BF4.

drop the CD drive, drop the H60 for a decent air cooler, spend the rest on a decent keyboard

or drop all of that, buy a cheaper case, and buy a 770 instead.

you could use win 8 trial and buy win 8 later to make more room in the budget as well.

honestly I'd probably go with an AMD system as well unless you have a really good reason to get an i5.

not really, I was just reading that the i5 is significantly faster and can run graphics programs better, but if an AMD system is just as efficient  then I have no problem.  Thanks for all your help by the way, much appreciated.

Read more and ask again with your build.

Someone else will probably explain the logic to you, I'm too lazy and busy right now.

Not sure what you mean by graphics program. Your graphics are reliant on your gpu.
