Budget (including currency): $900 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorent, Minecraft, Battlefield 2042, some video editing and casual internet browsing, Microsoft Flight Simulator (the latest version)

Other details: I want to build a decent gaming PC. My laptop is good enough, but has integrated graphics so it's not great. I want to play better games and thought it would be a fun project to build a gaming PC. I want to build it decent, but not supper expensive. I got some great suggestions from this forum but I just want to confirm that these parts are good bang-for-your-buck.

I have just 2 specific question. Is the PSU good and can I get better RAM for roughly the same price?  Other then those questions, do the parts look good for my uses?

The cxm isn’t as good as the Cx, but it’s viable.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Vengeance LPX is a pretty standard, reliable RAM to go with.  There are higher-end options, but you can't really go wrong with this and it'll do what you need it to.  Any higher-end RAM is gonna blow your budget and not have any real effect on gaming at a 6600XT level.  I'll vouch for the PSU, as it's a basic, reliable corsair unit and the system is relatively low in power draw, but I'll let someone else give a more nuanced answer if they can.

Yeah this.  If you wanna spend a little more I would go with the CX, but the CXM would get the job done.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

How could I find Cx? Like what search terms (sorry, I'm an idiot)

Refurbished, but I've gotten A LOT of refurbished stuff from corsair's site over the years, and it's always been indistinguishable from new.  They seem to do a REALLY good job with it.  And their customer support is top notch.  A great spot to get peripherals from, too, and there's a lot of promo codes so try out honey when you check out, might be worth it.

Upgraded cpu, added cooler, upgraded ssd

Case wise either try to find a decent one in the 30$ range thats mesh (you may need to go to a physical store), buy or salvage an old scrap office case, or just fk the case and run it ontop the mobo box

Theres still some budget left so you may wanna try cost cutting on stuff like the ssd and cooler for a better gpu
