Here's the situation:

I currently have a GTX760 (Gigabyte Windforce OC) and I run it on a Dell 1080p IPS monitor. It gets good frame rates with max details in pretty much any game.

I would like to get a 1440p monitor and keep the 1080p one to switch between output for my laptop and secondary monitor for my desktop. However, I think I'm going to take a hit in gaming performance if I run the 760 at 1440p.

I would also like to not spend too much.

My question is: Is it a good idea to just get another Windforce 760?

Things to consider:

- I saw in benchmark results that they SLI-scale really well in pretty much everything. Are there any notable exceptions that you know of?

- I would be running them in a Fractal Design R4 with 3x140mm chassis fans + intake/exhaust from an H80i in push-pull. Would that be enough airflow for them considering that the Windforce doesn't have a blower cooler?

- They would run off a Corsair RM750 PSU. Is that enough? (the rest of the system is an i7 4770, 2xSSDs, 1xHDD, cooling mentioned above);

- My current MB can't do SLI, but I'll be switching to a Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 pretty soon. I don't think that has any relevance, but I just threw it in there.

Sure, 760 sli is quite enough even at 1440p, a 780ti will give you no sli hassle and a larger frame buffer though.

Agreed, but the expense doesn't seem worth it considering I already have a 760.

I think you should first get the 1440p monitor and at least try it with a single 760 to see if you can play the games you want to play at decent settings and decent FPS, if you need higher FPS after that you should upgrade your motherboard to a SLI-Capable board and try and find another 760 for cheap (Make sure it's the same model for the best compatibility and looks)

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

The mobo is coming anyway. I'm chucking my current one into a NAS and I thought I might as well get a good one for the main PC.

You're probably right that I should try the single 760 first, but I would have liked to plan out some expenditures :)

Good :) the Gigabyte Sniper series is amazing.

Ya, you may end up being satisfied with just the single 760 for now, even on 1440p depending on what games you play.
