So, first time trying out an AMD video card in almost a decade and I've already encountered driver issues. Perfect.

My problem is as follows: display worked perfectly fine until Windows was installed, and updated drivers on it's own. Now I get constant screen flickering (black to black, black to desktop occasionally). I used safe mode and DDU to wipe it once. Then installed the AMD drivers. To no effect. As soon as they're installed, I get the same issue. Apparently it might be an issue with Windows not being up to date, but I can't do that as I can't see the desktop.

Anyone experienced this, or have any suggestions?

Did you try to install the WHQL driver (22.3.1) or the optional (22.4.1)? Usually WHQL is better. I always use them and never had driver related issues.

Just to confirm, it does work normally in safe mode right?

And are you sure it's the GPU drivers causing it and not the chipset drivers (since that's AMD too it might cause confusion)

No idea, whatever one AMD recommends when you go through their driver section.

It doesn't display anything at all anymore. So. No way to tell. Have to tear the PC apart again to stick in a different card.

Not even the BIOS?

Might be this. If that's the case try clearing CMOS, boot into safe mode, run DDU and install older drivers that weren't affected (22.2.3 and older). I recommend 21.10.2, that one is pretty stable. Make sure to disable driver updates in Windows update and AMD software so it doesn't update again.

Nope.

I'll give that a go. I'm also going to replace the 6700XT with a GT710, see if that helps. Makes me wish I hadn't just sold my RTX 2070 Super...
