Will My GPU Bottleneck?

ive just purchased a new motherboard, CPU and ram combo for my computer. I7 12700k, ASUS TUF Z690 Plus wifi and 23 gigs of CL18 ram from team group @ 3600. will my GTX 1080FE bottleneck?

As I'm wanting to wait for the 40 series GPU's to come out instead of blowing my money on a 3080 now.

What would it bottleneck?

The system is perfectly capable of drawing the maximum out of the 1080FE even on 1080p.

 

What did you upgrade from?

I think he means, the 1080 would bottleneck the CPU.

And it would, the 12700K is gonna drive the 1080 at full tilt all day every day without breaking a sweat.

 

And I still recommend waiting if you can,

A GPU can't bottleneck a CPU, especially not in gaming. It can in some programs that do GPU based calculations.

 

If you think it can, tell me, what does the CPU have to wait to get from the GPU, which data? What does the GPU prepare for the CPU?

The other way is simple; the CPU does the physics, AI, object placement and the prerender of each frame.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way. Maybe in some engines or special occasions.

As far as I know, the CPU sends as much prerendered frames as it can.

Sure, but if the GPU cant process the frames fast enough then the GPU is the bottleneck, which will be the case in this instance unless he games in 720p or somethhing.

Yes, but every system has a bottleneck. So before bying a new card use the old one and see if you can live with the performance it provides for now
