I have a GTX 970 with a defective GDDR5 chip (B1). How can I make the GPU ignore the affected memory bank? I can't get the memory chip replaced right now and I'd like to still use the card until I actually get to repair it.

Short answer, can't do it. Long answer, VRAM partitioning software, but you roll the dice there, compatibility with hardware, apps and OS, functionality and safety, both for hardware and personal data.

Partitioning software does exist but tends to be specifically written for a particular card under specific circumstances, not a utility type app such as Afterburner with mass compatibility.

Another option might be a modified BIOS but again, unless you do it yourself you are relying on unknown software with unknown properties.

Unless someone else knows of a solution. 🤔

I don't think partitioning software will help a lot, unless I can target the affected bank (or even chip). Bios modding would be the way to go and target the specific memory controller. Thing is idk how to do it.
