Hi guys.

Need help in troubleshooting an issue.

This is gonna be a long post.

I have a fairly okayish gaming PC which has asrock x570+ryzen 3500+rx6600+16gb TridentZ Rgb.

PSU is an Antec EAG 750 which is a decent tier 1 PSU. The voltages of the PSU are in check and don't fall or spike and are stable.

This issue I have faced twice.

Case 1: I was playing Apex Legends in February and PC shut itself off and restarted instantly mid-game.

I consulted some people and they all said that this was not a PSU issue as tripping of a PSU won't make the PC restart immediately. I reseated the RAM while cleaning and I think that ram was loose or improperly seated.

Case 2: Today I didn't even load up any game, just was in a discord server lying idle for around 10mins or so. I touched the mouse and BAM another restart.

The thing to note in these restarts is that all of the restarts happened after the PC was cleaned and ram was removed and re-inserted for cleaning.

So is it common for such issues to occur in memory slots that have latch on one side?

In my PC getting the memory to sit properly is a pain. Firstly the bottom part is a push-fit and no clicks are there to know when it goes in all the way, secondly my AIO tubes goes from right where the first ram slot is, so pushing it properly is a headache.

So far I have reinstalled both the ram sticks after removing the AIO and it seems to work fine for now.

I had a Gigabyte x370 and it had dual memory slot latches and I never faced such issues on that board.

Hmm... Hard to say. This could be a very difficult issue to tackle.

Any grain of small dust could causes this type of behaviour. Because the RAM slot pins are so close, a dust can create a short or interference which causes your system to lock up.

Anyway, it might be that your reset switch is the one that causes this. Check if your reset switch is functioning properly. You might want to clean up any dust that accumulates at your header such as Front Panel as they could potentially shorted the pin to trigger a restart.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.
