Disabling a specific cpu core

3rd core on my x5660 sucks ass and since this is x58 the bios is crude and cannot disable a specific core so now im left with disabling core via os

 

How the hell do i disable the 3rd core via os?

 

And i dont mind it being a penta core since i wont even game on it for awhile and even if i do i just need the single thread, the rest of the cores seem to be half decent so i can expect 4.5g at ~1.4v on 5 cores with the garbage 3rd core disabled

Im not even sure if xtu supports this 12 year old xeon

Have you tried i5 yet, or checked for an alternative? Always worth a shot.
