Snapraid with windows conectivity issues

Hello. I have recenly installed snapraid onto omv and have got the drives working sorta. it says i need at least 2 content files and how do i access the nas through a seperate windows machine? i have smb on but all that does it let the nas show up in file explorer. It says i cant acces it because of the remote device or resource wont accept. Any help would be amazing.

So a quick look at the Manual, it appears that you should be putting your "Content" which is like an Index of your files, on your Data drives preferably.  Your Parity drive can just be dedicated to Parity. 

 

It looks like the recommended way to use SnapRAID is to also use it with MergerFS.

This looks like a pretty good how-to on configuring it all, right through to creating your MergerFS pool , creating shared folders, adding accounts and enabling samba

Im not sure how many here use SnapRAID (perhaps some who might have moved from FlexRAID when that died), but you might be better off getting support for it from their sub  reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Snapraid/

Then tick the "Connect using different credentials"

 

And then enter it in the format of SERVERNAME\username

You might want to start troubleshooting by creating a basic share and give access to Guest and make it browseable. 

 

An example samba config would be something like:

 

[mysharename]
        path = /path/to/my/share
        comment = My Share
        browseable = yes
        # Guest Access
        guest = yes
        writeable = no
        write list = myusername, anotherusername
        case sensitive = auto
        preserve case = yes
        short preserve case = yes

 

Depending on the samba, it might use the term "Public" instead of Guest as well. In which case

guest = yes     would become

public = yes
