A year ago I went to get my CPU upgrade and ever since I’ve been at my wits end. Whenever I run anything requiring specs around an I5 the PC locks up and stays unresponsive until I reboot. Running stress test shows no results to what the problem could be and even tested with different Ram cards, GPU, SSD and a clean windows installation but to no avail.

current specs:

intel i9 9900k

Nvidia rtx 2060

32 GB ram

Corsair 750 watt psu

if anyone can help, greatly appreciated

I’d also like to add that the PSU, Ram, 1 SSD and motherboard were all part of the upgrade

if the issue stays after reinstalling windows then it may be a hardware thing, try updating the bios, and also checking other temps like chipset, vrms, etc.

if your system freezes when under cpu load, the voltage may be too low for the frequency its running at. try manually setting the cpu speed to something low like 3ghz at 1.1v see if that fixes it. not saying that you should keep it at that speed, its just to test if the cpu is unstable when under load.

edit: you probably dont need to change the voltage

Already tried a fresh windows install, but I’ll try the cpu speed and see what happens. Gpu did sometimes get to 80 Celsius but I thought nothing of it at the time

edit: just check average temps, nothing goes higher than 70 Celsius
