General (Specific) Question

NextraMia

I have a 1440p monitor but when I go into settings it's capable of 4k as well on default settings.
Would it then be better to use 1440p 240hz (it's 240hz) or go for the 4k setting on 60hz?
// It is my secondary monitor and not my first so I won't be gaming on it //

If it's 32 inch or higher I would use 4k, under that it's barely noticable so I would recommend a higher refresh rate. And ofc it's up to you, so just check both and see which you like better.

that would just be your preference, if its not used for gaming I would use it in 4K just to make it nice and crisp for reading or watching videos.

Also does it say 4K 60 on the monitors on board options or in windows. I had a monitor a while back witha cheap HDMI cable and it allowed me to pick 4K even though the monitor was only 1080P. I think the cheap HDMI cbale skip on some of the communication wires.

GPU: RX 570 4gb

RAM: 24gb of cruical and Adata mix

The rest is trash

If you're not gaming in it then 4K 60 will be just fine.

It would be good if you mentioned the brand and model of the monitor. Any monitor is "capable" of 4k through superresolution techniques, but if it's a 1440p monitor then it can't truly display 4k and it will just be downsampling and image rendered at a higher resolution (in games) or display some weird sub-sampled mess likely on the desktop, because it doesn't have the pixels to display all the required unscaled detail.

It's more of personal preference. If it's me I would keep native resolution for clarity. Sure, 4k gives more real estate but I wouldn't like blurrier text as a tradeoff.

i already have a 4k monitor as a main monitor but was just wondering if upscaling or what ever it's called is worth it for a little bit extra sharpness (in exchange for 240hz)

That monitor doesn't have real 4k. Yes there's probably some GPU setting to upscale it, but it doesn't make things look much better, especially since it's 27 inches and not something big.
