If you want to build a keyboard there are better switches than cherry mx reds that are cheaper like gateron reds or kailh reds. also, consider looking at gateron yellows and akko cs switches.

for the board, i have a gamakay lk67 and its worked very well for me so i would recommend that. its very budget friendly too

Depends on the kits you want to buy/what's available

 

KBDLite R3 is a decently affordable kit, I would look at around 200 with reds

 

I would also maybe push you towards Cherry clones instead. Gaterons, for example,  tend to have more consistency and quality in comparison

I heard of the gateron reds and they sound pretty good I might choose those as my switches.
