i5 2500k question

Go to solution Solved by Antistatic12,

Doesn't look like you have the best chip. But I have seen worse. I personally always try and stay under 1.3v. (yeah i know you only over it a bit.)

what do the temps look like when you are in the bios? are you the latest firmware on the mobo.
How is your ram. have you OCed that. If your not getting anywhere on the core clock, try the imc/memory. You mention 16GB of ram in your sig, but what timings and frequency.
Hows that GTX 770, the DCU2 has a factory OC, but you can usually squeeze another 25-100Mhz out of it. then try the memory on it too.

Hey guys.

I have been running my 2500k at 4.0ghz at 1.2v for the past two years and it has been very stable. The overclocking bug has recently bit me again and I am currently at 4.4ghz with CPU-Z telling me the core voltage is 1.308v with prime95 blend test running.

My temps are between 58c and 60c. Do you guys think my voltage may be too high for 4.4? Or am I okay? I am using normal vcore in bios with an offset of -.065v.

I might try to get it down to 1.3v, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

I got it down to 1.29v now by enabling turbo boost with all cores at 4.4 and setting tdp at 120w.

what do the temps look like when you are in the bios? are you the latest firmware on the mobo.

I am running the latest F18i bios. Temps in the bios are around 35c with the bios reporting 1.18v.

How is your ram. have you OCed that. If your not getting anywhere on the core clock, try the imc/memory. You mention 16GB of ram in your sig, but what timings and frequency.

RAM is at the stock voltage (1.5v) and stock timings. Frequency is 1600mhz.

Hows that GTX 770, the DCU2 has a factory OC, but you can usually squeeze another 25-100Mhz out of it. then try the memory on it too.

My DCU2 is running at 1200mhz with 1.206v. The memory is at 7800mhz. I am pretty pleased with that.
