Hello everyone!

I am working on building a new PC for the first time. I bought all the components ( I have attached a list of them below), but unfortunately, there is no video output after installing all the materials. Do you have any recommendations on how I could solve this issue?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

PCPartPicker has this to say about your CPU and motherboard combo (and I highly suspect this is the issue). You may have to install an older series AM4 to update the BIOS to work with your 5800X. I hope this is not the case with my 5900X build. Asus assured me the other day that my board shipped with the correct BIOS update, but you never know. Makes me really glad I didn't disable my current 1700 rig robbing its RAM/SSD to save money, so I can still download a BIOS update if necessary and flash it via USB port. Saving $300 could have left me with two paperweights.

Did you put the hdmi to the motherboard??I think the problem is the 1030. It only runs at about 60hz and your monitor is 144hz. The card is very outdated. Try the ASUS Cerberus 1050 Ti it is very good

Wow, I didn't even get as far as the GT1030, as the mobo indicates a BIOS update is necessary for the 5800X. While I don't believe the GT1030 to be the issue here, it's certainly not going to be well-matched to a 5800X. It was designed for two-core processors and is going to bottleneck that 5800X horrendously. While it should work, and most any card should, you really need at least an RTX2080ti or better. I'd recommend an RTX3080ti myself. But be careful buying from third-party sellers. Lots of scammers out there these days.

The 30 series card are a little bit expensive but if you got the money to buy then you certainly can. If not try the 20 series or the Asus Cerberus 1050 ti

No offense, but while I'm not saying it wouldn't work, several calculators recommend at least the RTX2080ti for my current R7-1700 and show that it could handle a 30-series card also, so I can only imagine they would recommend the RTX3060ti for the 5800X at the minimum. That being said, a 1050/1080(ti) would certainly work, just not to its potential.

BTW, OP, what did you use for a CPU cooler? A standard AM4 cooler is not going to cut it for the 5000-series. I used the Scythe Mugen 5, but there are other options out there. Also, what case did you use? 5000-series are tricky to keep cool and you need all the airflow you can get.

I have the cooler but haven't installed it yet bc I want to see if I will have a video output first.

So if I want to do the BIOS updated I should install a different CPU? There is no. other way around ?

I'm not saying you WILL have to install an older CPU, but it IS a good possibility.

Here's the issue. The BIOS update present in the board currently may not support or recognize your 5800X. Ergo, the 5800X may or may not be able to work with the BIOS to update it accordingly. This means a processor chip supported by the current BIOS may need to be installed to update the BIOS. It could be a 50/50 of either the 5800X can do it, but won't be recognized as a 5800X until after the BIOS update, or it won't work at all until after the BIOS update. But while it's not a certainty, yes, it is possible (even probable) a supported CPU will be have to be installed temporarily to update the BIOS.

But (AND THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) I would ABSOLUTELY NOT run that 5800X without a cooler, and be sure to use a dab or two (or three) of good thermal paste between cooler and CPU. Just make sure that it doesn't squeeze out from under and cover the chip and socket. And make sure you don't dribble any elsewhere on the board, either.

A local PC shop might be able to do this for you, they are likely to have older spare AM4s laying around for just this purpose.

Thank you so much! I will go to a local PC store to solve this out. I think this is the best possible solution

NP. You've done most of the work already, so the bill for popping in an older AM4 and updating the BIOS shouldn't be that bad. You may even elect to have them set up the 5800X and cooler afterward. The "dab (or two or three)", BTW, is slang for making sure you use enough, but not too much. I almost used too much on my build myself, and I didn't think I used that much. It squeezed out just slightly, but not enough to cover the chip or socket.
