50c is fine. What are load temps?

Is the cpu idling with low clock speeds? If not, there's something causing the cpu to not idle.

What software are you using to monitor temps? Some programs can cause the cpu to boost whereas Ryzen Master can show proper readings for idle. Are chipset drivers updated?

What’s the rest of your case/fan setup like? & system specs?

i know this case can be chooky with airflow but i plan on getting the intake and exaust cut and vented if the temps get bad

curently have the nzxt mini mode open and the cpu is idle at 3600 and will boost to the full 4900 on load but i do like quite running so i wanna set it to try to stay quite without completly risking hardware

moitoring via ryzen master shows a idle of 40

My 5950x with a Corsair H150i Pro 360mm top mounted radiator stays around 40 idling and can get up to 75 while gaming at 4k.

The coldest I've been able to get it was 27c with a redneck cooler that sucked in 15f degree winter air. Stayed around 50c gaming at 4k.

Sir I approve of your engineering!

My own 5950x in a Phantek ENTHOO PRO with a full load of HDDs in front of the intakes with 2x140mm Noctua industrial fans another in the back as an exhaust, and a NH-D15 cpu cooler idles at 41-45c depending on time of day and hits 77c at load. To do that however I have all the CPU and case fans at 50% throttle and ramping up to full at 80c so the rig is loud even by my standards.

I am considering getting a different case so my HDDs aren't blocking so much of my intake but cases like that are very very few in number.

"The Codex Electronica does not support this overclock."

what are your ambients when getting these temps also how would setting a underclock work for like for when i just need extremly light tasks like youtube and stuff

how would i set that up cuss i have only ever setup auto overclock with my old cpu on my old board wich had the rog ai software wich gave me a max of 27%over

i dont like how ryzen master doesnt apply stuff apon boot

30 to almost 50C idle seems to be the norm.
65 to 75 loaded on water seems to be the norm
70 to the 80's loaded on air seems to be the norm.

I'm water cooled and I peak about 68C here and there, heavy loads don't leave the low to mid 60's but at heavy loads it's also not clocking all cores at 5Ghz, they're either 3.8 or about 4Ghz depending on the load.

Periodic spikes while "idle" is likely the cpu clocking up some cores up towards 5Ghz for small background tasks.

If under load you don't go much above 80C you're golden. If you get in the upper 80's your getting close to throttling and should likely look at a way to bring the temps down.

ok so my temps are running within that its just nzxt cam i guess reports avg of all wich is 10 over what ryzen master reports so i had to tune cooling with that offset in mind cuzz i changed coolers to a nzxt kraken lcd still a 360 rad but ABSOLUTLY HATE THE WAY THEY PULL TEMPS

I just finished a NR200P build with 5900x and Gigabyte 3080, Mugen 5 heatsink replaced with noctua fan and then a 92mm fan on the back for push pull. Also have 2 top and bottom 120mm.

idles at 45-50 COD Vanguard instantly 80-90 and fans are loud as sh&t.

Feel this processor was a huge mistake since others report even with large cases have this problem as well.

Only other thing I was thinking of trying is an Artic Liquid freeze 280 to replace the air cooler and see if that resolves it. Otherwise think I’m going to have to just rip the mobo and processor out and swap to something else that can manage the heat and fan noise.

Feel everybody’s frustrations with these AMD processors. Performance great, heat and noise ridiculous.

It’s a serious cpu. A bit of a waste for just gaming. Cheapo coolers should be immediately disregarded, same with most midrange cooling. 5600X is good for gaming, and is super easy to cool. In fact, I am thinking of pulling my 5900X and swapping to my 5600X and sell the beast.

Try different airflow. Put two slim intake fans under the gpu(arctic p12 slim pwm the sane choice price-wise) and force the cpu cooler to intake from back of the case and exhaust. That you wont feed that heated air coming through your gpu into your cpu heatsink. CPU does not do much while gaming even if its a 5950X or 12900K, the problems come if you have a high wattage gpu acting as a pre-heater.

So, I do have two slim under the gpu. I also ended up putting another Artic 120mm on the side next to my CPU cooler. It is definitely the GPU and COD Vanguard that is hammering the thing and the fans would ramp nearly 100% making it unbearable. Dealt with that by undervolting and doing a custom curve and peak of 1800mhz for the GPU using MSI. Also I set a custom fan curve and only ramp up to maybe 55-60% around 68c which it only goes up to now.

Still easily will do 220fps, COD Vanguard I get 140-150fps, which that game is terribly optimized...and I custom set fan curves as well.  The noise is tolerable, temps of the CPU don't go over 72c and GPU around 67c. Fans run around 55% cycle at most and with a 240hz monitor, games are buttery smooth.

The processor is just a winter house warmer just around 35% it will go 72c which I configured/set the volt/clock to only ever go that high.  All is good now.

Thanks
