Pcie cable question

Hi, I just assembled my first pc last night and I have a question concerning the cable going to the gpu. The card has (2) 8 pin slots on the front so I ran 1 single cable to it from the psu. The cable looks like its split into 2 separate 8 pin plugs like a piggy tail or something. Is this acceptable? Or should I run another pcie cable to it from the psu? It functions fine as it is just not sure if I was supposed to run 2 cables to it from the psu. Not sure if I'm missing out on anything performance wise. Excuse my lack of knowledge like I said this is my first build. Thanks!

Depends on the card, if its a low power one, it should be fine.

Optimally though, usually people use 2 cables instead of the pigtail.

Should be fine with the 3070, but personally I'd use two separate cables.
