Are display to HDMI adapters okay to use on integrated graphics?

Pugsona

This is my first ever computer build so I heard that I may have to buy a real computer monitor to setup all the systems... Because the display port to HDMI adapter I have isn't sending anything to my screen. I've re plugged it in over and over but nothing. Any advice..

If you have a discrete graphics card or gpu or videocard installed to your motherboard. Try re-plugging it there.

Usually DP (from PC) to HDMI(screen/monitor) works. Only that you'll only get the HMDI's native resolution and refresh rate our of a DP. But it will surely work if there is no problem with your cable.

If it will not work, and if you are sure that your screen/monitor is working, try using an HDMI to HDMI cable instead. If it is a TV screen, please make sure the input is properly selected as the source video-in.

Sorry, is it possible for you to share a photo of what is inside(hardware) your CPU? So that I can have a better idea. Thanks.

And what exact model is your processor(CPU)?

What is the exact model of your Intel i5 11th gen cpu? 11xx__?

Side note: Your motherboard I/O shield does not look like it is aligned to the case. Your motherboard might not be aligned or set properly on the case.

No worries. Thanks. That confirms that your iGPU is a UHD Graphics 730. You should be good to use that.

Best if you can share the motherboard and memory(DDR4) you have installed as well. So that I can help you further/better. And still best to take photo of what is inside the cpu chassis.

Have you observed if all your fans are spinning?

So you can see Windows display on your screen now? If you can see Windows now, you may shutdown your PC and install the other RAM stick you removed to an even slot. Meaning install it one(1) slot apart. Leaving a blank slot in between.
