The other day, my computer froze while I was trying to watch a YouTube video. I had to turn the monitor on and off, then go to a different window to get my screen to unfreeze again. This happened a couple of weeks ago, too.

How do I fix this?

This is a pretty vague description but I would try a different web browser? What are you using currently?

I don't exactly remember, but I think I could move the mouse before I turned the monitor on and off. I just couldn't click on other windows, even after turning the monitor on and off for a few seconds. I guess that's not really "freezing", is it?

Some posters on other sites have pointed out that me turning the monitor on and off wouldn't have fixed the problem in any way, and one said that I would have been able to click on windows again after a few seconds.

I did Chkdsk and DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and neither of them found anything wrong. I also looked at Event Viewer, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I looked at HDSentinel, and it said my SSD is in perfect health. Finally, I looked at Task Manager, and my GPU was performing fine.

Could the problem be that I use Chrome, and I usually have 40-50 tabs open at any given time? Chrome is a notorious memory hog, right?

Just a minute ago, I couldn't click on any tabs in the window I had open or scroll my mouse, so I went into the other window, and I was able to click on tabs.

I used Device Manager to check for updates, and everything is fine. I also updated Windows.

I guess it's not a driver problem.

The other day, I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and updated Windows.

When I Googled something just now, the pointer wouldn't turn into a hand, so I couldn't click on links. I could still click on other tabs and windows and click on links there, though, so I guess that's an improvement.

Honestly, this is more annoying than anything else. I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with my computer.
