Add a 3rd m.2 nvme drive.

Jokkemaster

Hi

I'm thinking of adding a 3rd m.2 drive in my gigabyte x570 gaming x motherboard/ ryzen 5800x system. I would have to use a pcie x4 - m.2 adapter because the 2 other m.2 slots are already occupied. Would this cause any problem with pcie lanes or bandwith with the other drives/gpu?

No.

At most, only your top NVME slot is 4 dedicated lanes.
The rest are shared from the chipset.

Fortunately on this motherboard so is the second x16 slot (x4 electrically), so it should work the same as the second NVMe slot.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
