Hey, I'm in need of a new PSU for future proofing, I plan on using an rtx 4070 or 4080, and maybe change my 5600x cpu for a new gen i7 or something.

I've been thinking of upping to 1000W atm, although there aren't many great choices at decent prices in my stores.

I've been recommended seasonic, pretty much any seasonic.  I looked up a few at decent prices, what do you think of these three ? Should I go higher, like 1300W?

There's also corsair like https://www.cel.ro/surse/sursa-modulara-corsair-hx1200-1200w-80-pluss-platinum-pNSMxMDUu-l/?gclid=CjwKCAiA9aKQBhBREiwAyGP5lRCMRTmw7c_hwmrgulRxTgAP2gn7Dr2bTLtVB_jpCjk2hUNTFbXFWhoCO9MQAvD_BwE

But my brother tells me corsair PSUs don't last long and break often?

Unless you have a reason to upgrade your PSU right now, I recommend waiting until the 4000 series are released before buying the PSU. That way you can actually know what requirements they have, instead of just guessing.

The Seasonic Prime and Focus are known for having issues with the transients from higher end GPUs. E.g. decent 750-850W PSU from other brands can handle a 3080, but a 750-850W Focus or Prime has a decent chance of not being capable. Not to mention them cheaping out on the fan (ticking noise at low RPM), having only rudimentary fan control without hysteresis (meaning you can end up in situations where the fan constantly turns on and off every few minutes), usually not being very quiet (Prime TX is the exception, if you don't mind the ticking noise from the fan. In my system, it's the loudest part of the PC under load), and cheaping out on the protections (all of their PSUs lack multi rail OCP).

:)

While I'm not in a rush to upgrade, I'm using a 550W PSU atm.
