It's probably a SATA only M.2 connector, and you bought a nvme SSD .... or the other way around.

 

If you search for the model of your old 250 GB SSD, it would tell you (if there's any mention of pci-e  or nvme on it, it's using pci-e lanes to transfer data). If it says SATA or AHCI on it, it's a SATA SSD.

Hello!

I have a Samsung laptop with a 250gb SSD with a m+b keyed m.2 SSD in a m keyed slot. I want to upgrade the storage so since it was in a m keyed slot I thought if I just bought a new m keyed 500gb SSD it would work. I got one and it doesn't appear to work. I am now wondering if the issue is a bad SSD or if it must have a m+b keyed SSD. Dose anyone have any idea what the issue most likely is? Thank you for any input!
