Don't go with the 12700K, a much better option would be to for a 12400f/12600k and get a better gpu instead (considering your only using the pc for gaming)

Hope my response helps 🙂

if your going to upgrade your gpu now or later down the line, even a 750watt psu isnt enough, if you going for a 3070ti or above (dont know the amd equivalent, but just look at the wattage they use), then you need a 1000W psu.

i will probably upgrade to rtx 3060, will 750w be enough? and if not i will upgrade the psu again because im not planning on upgrading the gpu in the new 6 months.

i have heard that people are fine with an 850watt psu with the rtx 3060 but i dont know about the 750watt, i cant imagine there is too much of a price difference between a 750 and 850...maybe the 1000 might be out of your budget.

Yes, you could actually get away with a quality 500w but I would go with 550w just for peace of mind.

https://www.windowscentral.com/best-psu-nvidia-rtx-3060#:~:text=The RTX 3060 has a,at least a 550W PSU.

it is also worth noting that Nvidia pared the 3060 with a i9-10900k which draws more power than an i5-12600k

a good PSU option would be a Corsair CX550F

Hope my response helps 🙂

So should i get 550w or maybe a bit more if i want to upgrade something in the future? or it doesn't matter

yeah you could go with a 650w which would be able to power a 3070ti, a good option is Corsair CX650F

Hope my response helps 🙂

This is very dangerous, did you not see anything that linus said about the random 100W+ spikes that rtx 3000 series gpus can make???

the power supply is the one part you should not even consider to get a cheaper unit on, you can buy a 1000W psu and use it for the next 10 years, i know since i have done the same thing, i bought a antec trupower 1000W over 10 years ago and it power rtx 3000 series just fine.

Point is a 550W will definitly not handle the spikes the gpu can make, 750w would be a gamble although you  may get away with it, and since the prices ''shouldnt" be that different it is a much safer bet to get an 850w, you ALWAYS want some kind of headroom anyway.

You dont have to upgrade psu  to 1000w if it is of good quality and if you're not going to overclock gpu. I have an EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra and an overclocked 7 3800X on my 750W power sully and it runs very stabily. Like others said, 750w is good, if you can, upgrade for better gpu then worry about that 1000w psu that can be bought used on ebay for about $100 -$120 US, but remember to get a quality one

this is complete BS, you don't need a 850w/1000w power supply for a 3070ti, as long as the power supply is at least 650w and good quality

yeah given that you repeatedly and disrespectfully, without proof, keep saying that "this is complete BS" i doubt you have any ground to stand on and have no useful information to bring to the conversation. Heck who would believe you over Linus.

Sorry for calling your comment BS, Nvidia recommends 750w for the 3070ti - considering Nvidia paired this with a 10900k and this guys build only has a 12600k a quality 650w PSU should be able to handle it fine, yes the 3000 series has power spikes but I doubt this will overload a quality PSU, my recommendation of 650w may have been low but I still don't believe a 850w/1000w PSU is necessary.

Hope my response helps 🙂

Since the seasonic 650w psu cost almost exactly the same as Corsair 850W 2018 80+ Gold RM850x and there is no one definitive answer here i'll just go safe and buy the Corsair 850W 2018 80+ Gold RM850x.

Unless im doing something wrong here? real question because i have no idea about psu with all these spikes and stuff
