GPU-Resolution relation?

Go to solution Solved by emosun,

The 6600 is considered a mid teir product so unless the games you intend on playing are retro then no the card wouldnt be expected to run modern titles at 1440 120.

The majority of gpus are very overpriced currently and all perform far lower than their value.

Budget (including currency): 12000 Turkish Liras

Country: Turkey

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All Battlefield games, most of the Star Wars games, Flight Simulator, Witcher III, Squad, Arma 3, Forza Horizon 4-5, God of War, Crysis games...

Hello LTT!

I've opened a new topic few weeks ago for building a new computer. Actually I've done it succesfully.

System has;

  • i5 11600K (overclocked all cores 5GHZ)
  • 8x2gb DDR4 3600MHZ Viper Elite Dual II
  • MSI Z590 Pro WIFI mobo
  • 240mm AIO cooler for CPU
  • Gameforce X-Mesh Case
  • XPG Pylon 650W 80+ PSU

I've chosen the GPU either, it seems like XFX Speedster QICK 6600XT (10000 liras) and I've got few questions about it.

First question is gaming capability on 1440P. I'm going to buy a monitor* which has Freesync Premium, 1440P resolution and at least 120HZ refresh rate. But i am not that sure can 6600XT handle that. I've mentioned the games i'm gonna play. I am not onto ray tracing but getting great FPS is important for me. Within medium-high-ultra mixture graphic preset on these games, can GPU manage it with great FPS values, what's your thoughts about that?

Other than that I've checked some gameplays** with 6600XT and it pulls 130-150Watts. My CPU sometimes uses 200+ watts when it's overclocked. Can my psu can handle both CPU's and GPU's power consumption?

Best regards LTT

*the monitor i'm thinking about on Amazon

So should i turn to 1080p instead of 1440p? Actually directly 120 is not that important but at least 80-90 would be great. 6600 XT is the highest gpu i can afford and i'm going to use it for a long time. If it cannot handle 1440p in nowadays, i wouldn't manage it in the future...

I think i should turn to 1080p.

The resolution is relative to the game. Older title may run at 1440 at a high framerate but AAA titles really wouldnt be expected to do that especially a few years from now.

I've changed my choose to 3060ti, it seems like more compatible within 2k gaming.

But I've got still questions about it. My pc is should hold me with few years with i5 11600k and 3060ti. Will it struggle within few years with 2k? Does 1080p and 1440p effects visual quality that much? Because with 1080p it will get high fps which is another consider with s high refresh rate monitor? I am really confused

11600K with 3060ti should be perfectly fine for 5 years in 1440p AAA titles. In about 2+-1 years you may need to tune some settings down to High or Medium for some games, but then again, can you really tell the difference between Ultra, Very High and High?
