Having fitted my H100i today, i've set about seeing how far i can overclock my 4670k.

Currently i'm sat at 4.4Ghz with a voltage of 1.338v with my highest core temp 78c

I'm tempted to push further, but i'm worried that the 1.3v currently being used is a little high.

Your thoughts please?

With a Radeon HD 3850? i would say a huge resounding  NO.

what does the gpu has to do with this?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

Hey, whats with GPU hate, she's done me proud for at least 3 years ;)

Ignoring the GPU (or helping me understand why my GPU is a concern aside from its age) if i want to see how far i can push the envelope, would you go higher?

No, it is so easy to kill things when pushing hard, my AMD and intel machines both went through a few mobo's.

i'd go higher but just to see how high it can go, not for 24/7

The temp's aren't that bad, if at full load.
But too much voltage.
I'd clock it down, I'd go max 1.32-3...

Currently testing 4.5ghz

One thing I did realise, my H100i was running in quiet mode, ive now changed this to balanced and the max temp is now 75c @4.5 so far.

You can't get that OC with lower voltage? mine is giving me 4.4 with 1.23v. This would get your temps way down, because im on air (http://www.quietpc.com/images/products/cnps5x-performa-large.jpg) and i get max 68º (amb temp around 15-20º).

Anyways, ot, i would say NI. The gains wouldnt be that big.

Your thoughts please?

you sure you cant do that clock at lower voltage? the temps seem ok but i would keep the volts around 1.35v personally.

This is how far I went, tried for 4.7, but it wouldn't boot windows, BSOD and the restart.
