Hi there, as someone who is normally a Mac person, and is building my first PC Workstation, I wondered what you thought of this build?

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/VjQgTJ

(There is also a 2nd GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING OC 16GB GDDR6 - Refurbished, but pcpartpicker doesn't allow multiple GFX cards)

Some prerequisites: I wanted a motherboard with thunderbolt 4 because I am hoping to plug in the monitor that way. 5950X is also a must have

Many thanks

Thanks. PSU: Worth going down -100w then to save money, or that a better brand?

What the main advantage of splitting the memory like that?

You're probably not going to realistically need 1300W and by the time you do, you'll likely just be building a new system.

Having RAM split across multiple slots helps it be more efficient when talking to the CPU.

The main reason you'd want a kit of 2x32GB is if you were installing 128GB on a 4-slot board. In most other cases, it's better to go 4x16GB if you just want 64GB.

And on top of that, RAM I added has tighter timings.

Thanks very much!

Do you think I'd get away without having the extra case fans? I was told it might be overkill...

There is little need for that many fans.  There are 6 x 140mm fans already in the build.

Hi again,

Wondered if you could help? I'm attempting to wire up the Power switch, Reset switch and Power LED cables, but I'm a bit confused. Here is what the manual on my Asus ProArt X570-CREATOR board says:

These are the cables I have on my Fractal Meshify 2 XL:

Am I correct in thinking this is how they should be connected?:

Thanks!

You should find a q-connector in the box. Comes in different colors and greatly simplifies and makes easier the process of attaching front panel leads.

Ah my Motherboard didn't come with one of those. Assuming it's normally included with a motherboard? Thanks

It's generally included in Asus mid and high level motherboards.

Hi Again,

I'm getting lower than expected Geekbench scores for the CPU: https://browser.geekbench.com/processors/amd-ryzen-9-5950x

Expect multi-core scores over 16000+ but getting 12000

Any clues what might be the culprit? I've read the memory can sometimes make a difference and also the cooler

Thanks
