Budget (including currency): $1000 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: He likes playing games, like Roblox, maybe Minecraft, and maybe FNAF.

Other details: Just need a Windows copy, WiFi adpater because he doesn't have Ethernet, and speakers because his monitor I don't think have built-in speakers. I built a system, but I don't think it's good enough and I think someone can make the build even better. Also, I think the CPU will bottleneck the GPU.

Build I made: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RJJWYg

Use kinguin, it seems sketchy but trust me it works and has a good buyer protection system. Boom extra $80, and get a better CPU for sure. I'll look into speccing some options here in a moment.

Changed the Windows key price to $25, and I got a better CPU and got a cooler.

even better than what i made. solid choice given this day and age with the gpu market. That should handle what he wants to play just fine.

Do you have an old computer around that has a Windows 7 key (even an OEM key)? If so, there's your Windows key. It should work for Windows 10 or 11. There is no need to buy a sketchy key from a sketchy website.

I used an old Dell Windows 7 Pro key to activate my copy of Windows 11 Pro a few days ago. Despite being an OEM key it worked fine.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

Some improvements and upgraded to 12th gen

Tbh i would reccomend just buying some old scrap case for 3$ and sticking the pc in that so you can improve other aspects like cooler, storage, psu, etc.

It says on the list that the case and cooler are incompatible. Maybe I can choose a different case? I changed it so it can be compatible.

Unsure about the airflow but if it works then it works   ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Tbh just go with a scrap case and upgrade something more important, you can always upgrade the case later and basically lose nothing cause scrap cases are only ~3$

The case is pretty nice if you look closer. But, I might just get a scrap case.
