Hello!

My friend has a Lenovo Ideapad 330s with an intel i5-8250U, 20gb of ram and a radeon 535 gpu. When he plays csgo (on various resolutions), he gets random fps drops constantly. Laptop doesn't have any trouble achieving around 100fps and then it drops to around 20-30 fps for no reason. It doesn't overheat and it's obviously plugged in the wall but when the fps drops it feels like it's thermal throttling (i've experienced that on my laptop so I know what it feels like). When fps drops occur, the gpu utilization drops to some very low percentages. As far as my knowledge goes about power settings in windows, everything is set up so the laptop can use maximum power when plugged in i.e. everything is set to performance. I'm not really sure if we have to tweak something in csgo, radeon software, bios or intel gpu software (if it interferes with the amd gpu utilization). Laptop can clearly handle some very solid fps figures without overheating or something so idk whats causing the issue... please help we're out of ideas.

Btw there isn't any background software using up the resources and the cpu also doesn't overheat, it doesn't have any problems turboing to higher frequencies.

Thanks in advance!

Tricky. Is it only happening in CS:Go?

He got the laptop just recently. The other game he plays is GTA Online. FPS drops in GTA happen less frequently and they are less noticeable since the average fps is lower than in CS:GO.
