Hello there. In my house we have a router which we cannot access it cuz the password is somehow changed and I can't bother calling my ISP to get this reset and set the PPPoE password from scratch again. My personal desk's router supports UPnP. How can I port forward using that protocol without accessing the router? Thanks.

Are you attempting to replace the inaccessible router with another one or is your "desk's router" connected behind the inaccessible router?

In the case of the former, knowing the make/model would be helpful.

In the case of the latter, it wouldn't make sense since the upstream router's firewall is still there. And why are you running 2 routers like this in the first place?

UPnP isn't very safe. Why not forward the relevant ports needed by your application/machine? Or set up a port-trigger rule?

Because they can't get into the main router. 😉

@Ilossss

So basically no, if the main router doesn't have uPNP enabled and you can't login to port forward, you're stuck.

Also if that second router isn't configured as an Access Point, uPNP will only reach that second router and have no effect on the main one, making you stuck even if if it DOES have uPNP enabled.  Though once you can get in you can port forward on both which would work, but its not ideal, having two routers has the potential to cause problems and add more latency to the connection.

The only way to solve this is to get the main router password reset so you can login to it.
