Can someone walk me through updating bios?

Hello, 

 

I am needing to update bios as I am upgrading to a new CPU and faster RAM. My aorus x470 currently supports 1.0 AGESA and from what I’ve found the Ryzen 5800X needs 1.2 hence the need for the update. I have done a little bit of research but with a process that can be this potentially catastrophic, I was wondering if someone could walk me through the process of updating my Bios version. 
 

Ryzen 2600x 

ASUS TUF 3070ti

Aorus gaming 7 x470 mobo

seasonic 850w PSU

1 tb m.2

16 gb ram 2666

It's honestly very very simple. 

Just download the latest bios from Asus' website, put it on a USB stick, shut the PC down, go to bios and select EZflash (I think that's Asus' Bios Update program), point to the file in the thumb drive and press go. 

 

Obviously you have to make sure to get the correct file and make sure your PC doesn't lose power in the process.

They need to download it from Gigabyte then, not ASUS

 

But yeah, download page on manufacturer's website for that particular mobo. They'll usually have the instructions there too.

Yes, please try not to flash Asus Bios onto Gigabyte boards

So potentially dumb question. I would install the new CPU and RAM first and then download the file and update bios, correct?

No, if a new BIOS is needed for the CPU then it needs to be flashed first otherwise the mobo won't know what the new CPU even is or how to make it work.
