I just transferred 200 GB of things from my external hard drive to my computer which have a WDC BLACK 1 TB . Now my hard drive will be about 600 GB used . Will it slow down my computer and shorten the lifespan of my hard drive ?

not the startup speed unless it's in the boot drive or something weird like that, to be sure I would have a seperate partition for files and no, HDDs are very stable and it won't die soon because of that

nope not that much...do one thing defragment ur drive using any optimization software, it will write the data sequentially in ur hdd without leaving any gaps... :) ...it will grant u better access than what u have now...

But I remember Linus said that the more you write to a hard drive the lesser lifespan it will have

It'll take a whole lot more than 600gbs of writing on a HDD to make a noticeable effect on your drive.

ya thats true but that is a mechanical hdd, if u write more frequently on a ssd which is not a mechanical drive then they really die soon bcoz they have a limited lifespan, but hdd has a lot more lifespan than that, so u r fine...just defragment it regularly and keep it cool by ventilating ur case properly...it will run for long... :)
