2 GPUs 1 PC

Lewiesly

Okay…. So I am a video editor & also love to game in my spare time.

With how much I have been working this year and my budget(£1000) A Quadro RTX4000 would be great for Editing.

In my PC Currently is a GTX1070.

The Question at hand.

Could I have both these cards in my pc at the same time? Almost plug and play.

Editing with the Quadro and then using the 1070 for gaming?

I am sure in all Adobe software I can select the GPU that the software should use. I could also force programs in Control Panel to use a specific card? Right?…

Thanks in advanced.

PC Specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT

32GB LPX 3200Mhz
MSI GTX1070

Asus ROG B550F

Corsair 1000w Psu

Fairly common with people mining. I believe there is a program within the mini hemispheres that allow you to allocate x resource to mining task.
I believe a lot will depend if the GPU is selectable through the programs you use. Obviously it will need to be mostly compute based as your output will be on the 1070.

See my Build here!

Intel 6700k -  Strix GTX 1080Ti - Corsair AX760 - Corsair Dominator 16GB 3000MHz - ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

Seagate Barracuda 1TB -  Samsung 120GB 840 - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB - Corsair H100i - Corsair Air 540 White -

Corsair AF120 - 2x Noctua NF-F12 - 3 x Noctua NF-S12

 Dell S2417DG - Dell UH2515H

As long as your PSU is up to snuff and you have enough PCIe slots, it should just work no problem. Plug it in, make sure the drivers detect everything and you'll be good to go.

Programs are hit or miss whether they'll be able to select the card that you're rendering with, though like you said, you can always force it in settings.

Would an RTX4000 not be faster than the 1070 in gaming too?

About 20-30% performance increase using the RTX. It's almost a perfect match for gaming performance with the 3060. (the wider memory bus makes up for the significantly lower core count)
