Work-/Gaming-Convertible Laptop: Price Range 1500€

Greetings specialists,

so the other day I got a request of finding hardware with the following requirements. Note: no apple product.

- it has to run Adobe products (especially Photoshop and AfterEffects), with the possibility to work on high quality frame-by-frame animations

- it has to have a touchscreen and be convertible, to work on things like this outdoors (at a café or while in a meeting)

- able to run some youtube videos

- able to run some games at normal/medium quality, with the words mentioned "at least it shouldn't lag, it's fine if it is ugly".

What tags I've already tried to look for:

- convertible

- high Adobe RGB coverage

- 2-in-1 laptops

And because of the recommended Adobe requirements, also:

-16 Gigs of RAM

- 512 gigs of harddrive as a minimum (or at least 256 gigs with microSSD option)

But with everything said, I cannot find the perfect fit to complete the request. Sometimes its the screen or the laptop just has no convertible option.

Especially my knowledge about Intel Graphics-cards (Intel UHD, Intel Iris) kills me over and over again.

So after 20 hours of pain, I decided to ask you!

Please help me!

(max. ~1500€, cheaper is always welcome

EU, Germany)

There are issues here.  You define 2 in 1 as indoor/outdoor?  It is commonly defined as laptop/tablet.  Indoor/outdoor might be done as that simply requires a bright screen, but laptop/tablet with gaming chops is possibly not possible.

finding a system that will work as a tablet but also has a useful discrete graphics card (discrete is a requirement for your gaming section) is afaik not a thing because of size constraints.  The amount of power needed requires more cooling, and those more cubic volume, than is available in 2 in 1s A really thick 2 in 1 would need to be found.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Argh sorry, I totally meant that what you described here. I am sorry if I explained it wrong (wasn't my intention). Of course the client wants to use it as a tablet, when work needs to be done with a pen. But also doesn't want to go with a pure tablet, because of the tons of timesaving shortcuts.

Thats exactly what I thought! Somewhere have to be made cuts. But as the client at least wants to play games "lagfree", there should be a possibility somewhere. Even if it means to play them on lowest settings. At least thats my guess.

That seems to be fitting the request well, there is only the "but" of availability in the EU, as Acer DE/AT nor Amazon sell it. In case of insurance, I don't know how they will handle it.

As ConceptD 3 itself: They sell another model of that one with the "Nvidia Quadro T1000". I am no expert on that types of cards, so I will have to look into it first.

“Lag” is technically a server and connection thing often having little to do with the actual device so he probably means something else that acts like lag.  Low fps or cpu difficulties is the only thing that might do that.  It is possible to get playable if not impressive fps in IGPs at 1080p low with higher end IGPs. So Xe or Vega11 (or m1 though there is no 2 in1 that has one of those)  I got the impression that wasn’t enough, but if it is all that has to be done is look for a 2 in 1 with a high end cpu, as for whatever reason neither cpu manufacturer seems to offer low wend CPUs with high end GPUs (which would honestly be a lot more appropriate)
